The Life of Vincent van Gogh
Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) was a Dutch post-impressionist painter who is among the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art. In just over a decade, he created approximately 2,100 artworks, including around 860 oil paintings.
Born in the Netherlands, Van Gogh worked as an art dealer, teacher, and missionary before dedicating himself to painting. His artistic career was brief but intense, marked by periods of great creativity and personal struggle. Despite selling only one painting during his lifetime, his work has become some of the most recognized and valuable in the world.
